A considerable portion of the hospitality industry’s revenue can come from companies booking accommodations for groups of business travelers or space for large corporate events. It makes sense then that hotels would want to structure a loyalty program to secure the business of this lucrative customer class.
With over 4,700 hotels across nearly 100 countries worldwide, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is in a prime position to seek the customer loyalty of these business travelers, which is why it has just announced plans to bolster it’s already comprehensive loyalty program.
Built with the intent of rewarding those that book guestrooms or large conferences on behalf of others, InterContinental Hotels Group is set to launch IHG Business Rewards. Now every hotel room reserved or business meeting planed at any participating IHG location will earn the active party points though this new loyalty program.
Not merely reserved for corporate entities however, this loyalty program is also designed for anyone with a large group of people including, for example, parents seeking accommodations for junior sports teams.
“By combining our regional business loyalty programs into one, we are giving our members a smoother, more personal experience by leveraging the existing IHG Rewards Club loyalty platform and infrastructure, points engine and redemption partners,” said Susanna Freer Epstein, IHG Senior Vice President of Customer Loyalty Marketing.
IHG Business Rewards will offer points regardless of how much members spend. And all hotel bookings will go towards achieving IHG Rewards Club Gold and Platinum levels. Promising users a smooth and unified customer experience, IHG also streamlines all points earned - through both the standard Rewards Club program and the new Business Rewards program - into a single account. Furthermore, the points earned never expire.
As members earn more points, IHG’s loyalty program provides an array of options to claim rewards. Once enough points are collected, members can redeem free hotel stays, shopping excursions, digital downloads, gifts cards, or a multitude of travel options. Members can also donate and transfer points if they choose or combine existing points with cash to earn discounts and rewards even faster.
IHG claims that its popular loyalty program offers rewards that are real, relevant, and good enough to improve the customer experience of any traveler.
